Ivan was born in 1881 in Scotland to James, a Brewers Clerk, and Lucy. The 1891 census shows Ivan was a 10 year old scholar living in the family home at Fairfield, Warrington. By 1901 his father was a Brewery Manager, Ivan was a brewer, and his brother Graham was 14. In the last quarter of 1905 Ivan was married in Warrington.
Unfortunately, no record of Ivan has been found in The Tech registers. The cemetery in which he is buried served the many hospitals that were based in Rouen.
